Market & Monroe is an adaptive reuse project located in downtown Athens, Alabama that revitalized a long abandoned pool hall into a premiere event venue that both filled a need of the downtown area and tied into the aesthetic of the square.

When the owners of Market & Monroe first purchased their building in 2021, they came to AMBL with dreams of converting the old downtown pool hall into a premiere event space. We worked closely with a team of engineers and contractors to convert the 2,700 sqft building into something that would add life back to the long abandoned building.
This renovation of Market and Monroe is a prime example of our adaptive reuse skillset. We took a long-standing, dilapidated building and designed a refresh that met the needs of the client while also keeping with the traditional aesthetic of downtown Athens. After undergoing a complete gut rehab with a reconstructed historic brick facade and new storefront, this building opened its doors to the public in the spring of 2023.
